Office supply tricks: use chalk to remove grease stains

white chalkHere’s a cool office supply trick for anyone who has kids, or anyone like me who is accident prone and is always managing to spill things and make messes. Next time you get a grease or oil stain (pizza, salad dressing, etc) on your clothing, reach for a piece of chalk to solve your stain problem!

A post on Lifehacker.com suggests rubbing chalk onto grease/oil stains right after they happen. The chalk powder will absorb the grease/oil and that will make the stain easily removable by laundry detergent in the wash. (Make sure to only try this with white chalk) This is a great way to prevent the stain from setting in and ruining your favorite piece of clothing, so keep a piece of chalk within reach in case of stain emergencies! :)

First installation of the cubicle - 1969If you work in an office, you are most likely VERY familiar with cubicles. Not quite an office, yet more than just a desk. Creative uses for office supplies: use a sticky note to catch drill debris

Thanks to Pat at NEOS for sharing this creative use for an office product that she came across recently.

If you’ve ever drilled into your walls for any reason, you know that the drill dust/debris goes everywhere. A simple office supply solution to that is to attach a sticky note to the wall under where you are drilling and fold it upwards so it catches the debris falling from the drill. Then you can just fold up the sticky note and throw it away instead of having to sweep or vacuum the debris from your floor…saves you time and prevents a mess!

Creative uses for office supplies: use a binder clip as a sponge holder

My dishwasher broke recently and I am now realizing how much I took having a dishwasher for granted. Washing dishes by hand is NOT fun, or easy! I feel like the dishes in my sink multiply overnight while I’m sleeping and I don’t like it.

So now that washing dishes has become an everyday occurrence in my house, I’ve come to appreciate my new best friend, the sponge. The  problem with sponges though is that when you are done washing the dishes you either leave the sponge in the sink and it gets buried under all of the new dirty dishes that you add, OR you put the sponge on the side of the sink and it leaves a nice wet stain on your sink and the sponge takes forever to dry. So here is an office supply solution for all of you fellow dish-washers like myself… use a binder clip to hold your sponge! No more losing your sponge under dirty dishes and your sponge will dry much quicker without leaving a wet spot on your sink.
